Low Pressure Electric

This system is common in older New Zealand homes. If you can block the hot water flow with your finger or have a header tank in the ceiling, you likely have a low-pressure system.

Low pressure cylinders are usually made from copper and tend to last at least 20-40 years. This life expectancy can be significantly reduced when used with a hard bore water supply.
These systems have lower installation costs, but with higher operational and maintenance costs.

Main attractions: cheap to install, long-lasting and usually lower shower-water usage.

Main drawbacks: slow filling of baths and washing machines; showers can have insufficient flow, and if the pipe work is incorrect, they may go cold when other taps are used.

If your low pressure cylinder shows signs of leakage, or If you would like the benefit of better shower pressure or are considering upgrading your plumbing fixtures in the future to modern mains-pressure tapware then now is the most cost effective time to upgrade to a mains pressure cylinder.
